🚂 History & Scale

Freighthouse Square, now renamed Freighthouse Marketplace was built in 1909 as the westernmost freight terminus for the famous Milwaukee Railroad. Freighthouse Marketplace has been a Tacoma landmark for over 105 years. The Square is a massive 110,000 sq. ft. indoor urban shopping experience at the epicenter of Tacoma’s Dome District. The building itself is over 1,000 feet long, stretching three city blocks. There are multiple doors and three are just past the Sounder Station and lead into the food court. There is an entrance into the shopping mall up a few steps and there is an additional entrance by Defiant Fox Games and The Painting Panda. Wheelchair access is only via the food court first entrance next to Sounder Station.

🍜 International Food Court

It is the home to a unique blend of locally-owned food vendors in the popular “International Food Court”. You can dine in the food court style setting or order take out right from your train or car utilizing the restaurants QR code. Or rock it old school and call in your order. Most restaurants offer delivery via grub hub, door dash and other services.

🛍️ Shops & Local Merchants

An eclectic group of small business owners and merchants occupy the retail spaces just past the food court and restrooms. African Art, Crafters, Shoe & Clothing stores, A candy store, Celtic store, Candles, Tattoos, Game store, Pottery store and the Dome District Art Gallery can all be found as you wander down the halls of this historic building. Just 2 blocks north of the Tacoma Dome and the LeMay Car Museum, Freighthouse Marketplace is also at the nucleus of Tacoma’s busy transportation hub. It is an old building that needs a bath and facelift but if you can take a step back into the history and culture and diverse population of Downtown Tacoma and the Dome District, you will be charmed by the quaint shopping and dining opportunities at Freighthouse Marketplace
